Katie McMahon, LPC-S, NCC, RPT-S

Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She is a graduate of Sam Houston State University. Katie is an adjunct professor at Sam Houston State University.  She has experience in providing expert witness testimony in court and is a former child advocate.

Research interests include the effects of play therapy on children with trauma backgrounds.


Clinical Director

Amanda Beeman, MA, LPC, CAS

Amanda is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Autism Specialist. She graduated from Sam Houston State University and is dedicated to providing quality mental health services to her community. Her specialities include Autism and Trauma. She has presented at state and international conferences as an expert in Autism. Additional interests include working with the student population of Sam Houston State University.

Research interests include trauma and neurodevelopment, social-emotional regulation in autism spectrum disorder, and clinical supervision for graduate students in counseling programs.


Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Sarah Favilla, MA, LBA, BCBA

Sarah is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She is a graduate from Ball State University with a Master's degree in Special Education. While primarily focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder, she has worked with individuals with a variety of diagnoses, both medical and psychiatric. Sarah's experience includes working with children as young as 18 months and adults well into their 80s. She is passionate about the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and the positive changes it can bring.

Katie Lewis, M.A.,  Supervised by Katie McMahon, LPCS

Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She is a graduate from the University of Texas at Tyler. With a client-centered approach, Katie enjoys walking with clients as they explore their physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. Her areas of interest are trauma, anxiety, relationships, self worth and life transitions.


Masters Level Counselor Intern

Kaitlyn Schenk

Meet Kaitlyn! She is a clinical mental health counseling intern from Sam Houston State University. She has a passion for children and normalizing mental health care! She is fluent in American Sign Language and looks forward to bringing counseling to the Deaf community in their language. Kaitlyn works with clients of all ages, backgrounds, and needs. She is currently working to become a Registered Play Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Kaitlyn operates from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach for adults and adapts to meet the specific needs of her clientele.


Masters Level Counselor Intern

Keira Tademy

Keira is currently a master’s student in her final year at Sam Houston State University, studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling with specialization in play therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Sam Houston State University in May 2018. Keira has experience working with children and adolescents in childcare, school, and therapeutic settings. She has also worked with young adults in both college and therapeutic settings. 

Research interests include transition across the lifespan, identity concerns, and trauma in individuals of all ages


Masters Level Counselor Intern

Shelby Georgi

Shelby is a graduate student intern pursing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Sam Houston State University. Upon graduation, Shelby will be a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is guided by Existential Therapy with a Person-Centered/Emotional focus. She believes that counseling is best served when the clients are able to take the sessions in whatever direction benefits them. Shelby truly believes in the power of family and social systems, hence her passion for working with children, individuals, couples, and families.

Administrative Assistant

Erica Adams

Erica is currently an undergraduate student at Sam Houston State University majoring in psychology with a minor in abnormal behavior analysis. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to further her education by pursuing a masters degree in psychology. She hopes to eventually become a child and family psychologist and possibly start her own practice.
